A Coffee Crawl Through Downtown Ann Arbor, MI
Updated September 24, 2026
You can cover most of downtown Ann Arbor's coffee in an hour of walking. Here it is in geographic order, north to south.
## Start in Kerrytown [TeaHaus](/places/teahaus) at 204 N 4th Ave is the northern end of the walk, a block from the [Ann Arbor Farmers Market](/places/ann-arbor-farmers-market) at 315 Detroit St. [Zingerman's Next Door Café](/places/zingerman-s-next-door-cafe) at 418 Detroit St is the Detroit Street stop, right beside [Zingerman's Delicatessen](/places/zingerman-s-delicatessen) at 422 Detroit St if you want something to eat with it.
## Cross Huron Street [1824 Cocktails & Coffee](/places/1824-cocktails-coffee) at 413 E Huron St Ste C is the halfway mark, and the one stop on this route that turns into a bar later in the day. Keep walking south on Fourth Avenue and [Le Bon Macaron](/places/le-bon-macaron) at 209 S 4th Ave is a short detour for a pastry.
## Liberty and State Street [Toastique](/places/toastique) at 200 E Washington St sits between the two, then finish at [Comet Coffee](/places/comet-coffee) at 16 Nickels Arcade — it's tucked inside the arcade off State Street, so look for the entrance rather than a streetfront.
## Worth the short drive Two of the city's better-known roasters are not downtown. [RoosRoast Coffee](/places/roosroast-coffee) at 1155 Rosewood St is east of campus, and [Zingerman's Coffee Company](/places/zingerman-s-coffee-company) at 3723 Plaza Dr #5 is on the south side near Plaza Drive. If you have a car, add either to the end of the walk instead of a fifth downtown stop.
## Bring something home [Zingerman's Bakehouse](/places/zingerman-s-bakehouse) at 3711 Plaza Dr is next door to the coffee company, which makes the south-side detour worth one trip rather than two.
